About the Games Survey

Thank you for clicking on this survey. The purpose of this survey is to gather preliminary information about people's computer gaming habits. We are interested in learning more about people who play computer games such as those included in Facebook or those that can be downloaded from companies such as PopCap. Our choice in using Bejeweled and Bejeweled Blitz for this study is not a marketing ploy; we are focusing on the various forms of this specific game because it is a very popular game which can also be played for free, and since most people who play computer games will be familiar with this game. The various forms of Bejeweled are conducive to our study due to certain cognitive aspects and features of the game. If you'd like to read some articles about academic studies which have focused on games and cognition, you can click on the links in the "Learn More!" section.

There are only four options listed in the question below. You will be directed to one of four surveys based upon your answer to our initial question; so, please answer the question as honestly as possible. Even if you do not play computer games or have never played a form of Bejeweled, please take the survey since we have questions designed for respondents belonging to these particular groups.

Your answers will help us prepare for more in-depth laboratory studies on what we think is an important area of investigation. This preliminary information is being gathered in a fiscally responsible manner: no grant money or outside funding is being used to conduct this survey. The total time to complete the survey should be no more than 5 minutes. When you're done with the survey, you'll have the opportunity to read more about games and cognition; and, you'll be provided with more information on why we're doing the study. Thank you for taking your time to help us! We believe that the resources after the quiz will help you, too!
